Girl Guiding Stone Outward Division tell there inspiring story

03 Dec 2007

Story Picture Girlguiding Stone Outward Division has units for Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers. These are located in Aston, Barlaston, Oulton, Tittensor and Yarnfield and it is representatives from those units who make up the SMILE team.  The team is 34 strong, comprising 24 girls aged between 14 and 18 years, and 10 leaders.

We are planning are to spend our funds on a second trip to Mombassa, Kenya, which will take place in October, 2008.

Our group is planning to use the money we raise to enhance the lives of all who live at the Tumaini Orphanage, by decorating the dormitories, building two classrooms and furnishing them with desks, bookcases and equipment.  A small hospice is in place for six very sick children and we shall be decorating and installing a sensory room here.

Our main fundraising event has been recycling which we have done by asking the team and local supporters to pass the items to Liesl who in turn has sent them on to the recycling centre and in turn received donations. This has been a very simple way of raising funds and everyone has been supporting us and had pleasure in doing so.
