Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

While reducing the amount of waste we produce is everyone's individual responsibility, the Girlguiding UK Recycling Appeal helps you with the reuse and recycling calls to action.

The Girlguiding UK Recycling Appeal recovers all product sent in through our campaigns for reuse. Products that can't be reused are recycled, and where reuse or recycling is not possible we use the Best Practicable Environmental Option (BPEO) for waste disposal.

Most mobiles received by the Girlguiding UK Recycling Appeal are repaired and sold on as working phones. Those that can't be repaired are sent to our specialist electronics recycler to have all precious metals extracted and any remaining materials smelted for energy recovery.

Most printer cartridges collected through the Girlguiding UK Recycling Appeal are sold to remanufacturers who recondition and refill the products to sell to consumers as an environmentally friendly option.
